Rivers are more than just waterways; they are vital lifeblood for humans and nature. They transport resources, support economic activity, provide a space for social interaction, and maintain ecosystem balance. However, increasing pollution and environmental degradation present rivers with serious threats that require immediate action.

As a form of real commitment, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk through the BRI Peduli program has implemented the “Protect Rivers, Protect Life” initiative with Sungai Watch since early 2025. This collaboration is designed to reduce pollution and strengthen public awareness of the importance of protecting rivers as shared assets.

To date, the program has recorded various important achievements, including:

• Collecting 64 tons of inorganic waste from various points in the river,

• Carrying out 27 river clean-up actions in various regions,

• Involving 2,221 volunteers from various levels of society,

• Contribute to reducing potential carbon emissions by up to 193.27 tons of CO₂e.

These steps are a concrete manifestation of BRI's social and environmental responsibility in creating sustainability.
